The Bend Neighborhood Coalition is an independent Oregon non-profit run by community volunteers. It is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(4) organization. We are not affiliated with the City of Bend or its neighborhood associations.

We know from personal experience as business and property owners, as managers and employees, as teachers and students, as entrepreneurs and as caregivers, that people want both to prosper and to live where they can enjoy their home and yard, connect with neighbors, and have a sense of community. That’s why this effort is not about being anti-growth, anti-business, or anti-fun. It’s about striking a balance among what are sometimes competing interests. So, we embrace both smart growth and policies that protect and improve the quality of life for residents.

We expect that protecting the quality of life in Bend’s neighborhoods will sometimes mean challenging policies and practices that have negative impacts on residential areas. Rather than just complain, though, we’ll be putting constructive solutions on the table, especially ones that have worked in other cities.
